Hi First Name, In this issue, we examine the practicality of traditional vs. innovative sensors, strategies to eliminate light pollution, and the role of DALI gateways in enabling two-way communication.
In this September Tech Bulletin, we delve into key topics that are shaping the future of building technology.
We explore the balance between traditional and innovative sensor technologies in "Sense and Sensibility," discuss strategies to minimise light pollution, explain the role of DALI gateways in ensuring effective communication, and emphasise the importance of understanding space utilisation in your building.
As always, we're committed to improving our services, and we're currently transitioning to a new ERP system – your feedback and patience are greatly appreciated.
Sincerely, The Intelligent Environments Team
Sense & Sensibility
We borrow the title of the 1811 novel by Jane Austen comparing ‘sense’ (practicality) with ‘sensibility’ (emotion).
In this post, we compare the ‘practicality’ of sensor types that have been around for decades with the innovative use of emerging sensor technology to control the buildings of today and beyond.
Optimising the wellbeing of its occupants, and monitoring and surpassing energy-saving initiatives and goals!
Light Pollution – Strategies to Minimise its Effect
Can we prevent light pollution? The term “dark sky” refers to a nighttime environment with minimal artificial lighting, allowing for a natural and unobstructed view of the stars and celestial objects.
Artificial lighting in outdoor spaces is considered necessary in the absence of daylight, for people to feel secure and comfortable when navigating a dark environment.
It may therefore be impossible to eliminate light pollution, but it can certainly be minimised, enabling the darkness of the night sky to prevail.
DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface) is a way for lighting equipment to communicate. It is an open protocol and certified DALI devices can communicate with each other very easily, just like humans speaking in their native language.
Learn the importance of DALI gateways as translators and the importance of two-way communication in this article.
Intelligent Buildings – Understanding How Space In Your Building is Utilised
The ability to see clearly how space is utilised has been a sought-after feature for intelligent buildings for many years. Although this facility has been available, it’s usually come with a high price tag and is rarely user-friendly.
What is the use of expensive features when no one in your business can either understand or run reports upon?
