November’s here and we’re diving into smart, sustainable spaces – from the transport hubs shaping the future of mobility, to simple ways you can stop your building glowing like a Christmas tree over the holidays 🎄
Plus, a quick heads-up: the IE crew is heading "Off-Grid on Purpose" later this month for a well-earned recharge (don’t worry – support inbox still covered!).
Scroll on to explore what’s new, what’s next, and how to keep things running smarter into summer...

Reimagining Transport Hubs How Intelligent Lighting Control Shapes the Future of Mobility
Across the world, transport hubs are being reimagined as vibrant, sustainable spaces –and lighting control is at the heart of that shift.
Intelligent Environments has been part of New Zealand’s evolution, from rail to aviation, delivering lighting solutions that enhance safety, simplify operations, and support long-term sustainability goals.
Learn how technology is turning ordinary infrastructure into smarter, people-focused environments.
Don’t Let Your Building Win the Christmas Lights Competition!
It’s that time of year again – lights, decorations, and a little too much sparkle everywhere. But your building doesn’t need to join the Christmas tree competition!
Before heading off for the holidays, service and facilities managers should check lighting schedules and system timers to ensure energy isn’t being wasted while spaces sit empty.
Smart planning now means lower costs and a greener start to the new year.
REMINDER
The IE Team is Going "Off-Grid on Purpose"
26 – 28 November 2025
Just a quick reminder: from 26 – 28 November, our team will be off-grid for a few days – heading to an island in the Hauraki Gulf to recharge, reset, and take a moment away from the screens.
While it’s a chance for us to unwind and reconnect with nature, we’ll also be using the time to reflect on the year and workshop our strategies for 2026 – ensuring every project we deliver continues to run smoothly, efficiently, and with the innovation our clients expect.
If you have any upcoming projects or support needs, please reach out before 25 November so we can make sure everything’s in place.
We’ll have limited email access during this period (with one team member monitoring emergency, estimating, and support inboxes), so replies may take a little longer than usual.
A short break, a bit of fresh air – and we’ll be back recharged and ready to take on 2026.
We love debunking common lighting control myths – one myth at a time!
Myth
The emergency lights need to be on a separate system.
Busted
Both emergency lights and standard lights can be incorporated into a single zencontrol system which can monitor and report on the status of both systems, making both compliance and maintenance easier, and less costly.
