Lighting Control in Retirement/Aged Care Facilities
Lighting in aged care facilities is often limited to basic functions like scheduling and occupancy control – but that’s only scratching the surface.
With a more tailored approach, lighting control can significantly improve comfort, safety, and quality of life for residents, while also supporting staff and boosting energy efficiency.
CASE STUDY Lighting Control for ARISU at Auckland City Hospital
Intelligent Environments was engaged as the lighting control integrator for the Adult Rehabilitation Integrated Stroke Unit (ARISU), located within the new Taio Ora facility at Auckland City Hospital – one of only two dedicated stroke centres of its kind in the world.
Purpose-built to support hyper-acute, acute, and rehabilitative stroke care, the $30 million facility features 41 inpatient beds along with specialised rehabilitation, dining, exercise, and communal spaces.
Learn how our lighting control solution supports both patient wellbeing and clinical efficiency.

Recently honored with the "Highest Award for Achievement" at a Dale Carnegie course, Bex also heads the "Intelligent Environments Knowledge Centre", offering seminars on building technology, particularly DALI-2.
MYTH BUSTING SERIES
Lighting Control Myth Busting #7
We love debunking common lighting control myths – one myth at a time!
Myth
When a DALI light has to be replaced, does the system have to be re-programmed?
Busted
Not with zencontrol DALI-2 (wired) or DALI+ (wireless) lighting control. The electrician changing the fitting can re-set the system, or if assistance is required we can help remotely. No costly site visits required.
