Lighting for the Elderly: Why One Size No Longer Fits All
As we age, our eyes and circadian systems undergo major changes – making standard lighting insufficient for older adults.
From aged care to workplace environments, this article explores how human-centric lighting and advanced control systems like zencontrol’s DALI-2 and DALI+ can improve visibility, wellbeing, and sleep.
It's time to shift from static lighting to intelligent, adaptive solutions that support people at every stage of life.
CASE STUDY Palmerston North Acute Mental Health Unit
Intelligent Environments recently completed a sophisticated lighting control system for the Palmerston North Acute Mental Health Unit (AMHU), delivering enhanced safety, therapeutic flexibility, and significant energy efficiencies for the facility.
This state-of-the-art unit, operated by the Palmerston North District Health Board, required a specialised lighting solution that supported patient care and staff operations while ensuring compliance with stringent healthcare standards.
Manu Bhagwanji, Auckland native, holds a BSc/BTech from Auckland University and has over 15 years of IT experience as an engineer and project manager.
He’s spearheaded various education and commercial projects, including those for the Christchurch rebuild. Transitioning to the controls industry, he led numerous successful Intelligent Environments projects, notably Commercial Bay.
Beyond work, he enjoys sports, music, and photography, though capturing a photo of himself proved challenging!
