Welcome to April's Tech Bulletin. This month we're sharing a range of updates across lighting control technology, project delivery, and ongoing system support.
We take a closer look at zencontrol Connect and how it offers a smarter, more accessible starting point for lighting control, introduce the new Switch 2 application and its flexible, user-friendly interface, and highlight our work on the redeveloped Qantas International Lounge at Auckland Airport.
We also touch on the growing value of remote services and maintenance, and how it can help reduce callouts, costs, and disruption while keeping systems performing at their best.
Enjoy the read.
Sincerely, The Intelligent Environments Team
Understanding zencontrol Connect
A Smarter Starting Point for Lighting Control
Lighting control systems have traditionally been associated with complex commissioning, specialised programming, and large upfront investment. But modern buildings increasingly demand intelligent lighting that improves energy performance, comfort, and operational efficiency.
Intelligent Environments were engaged to design, supply, commission and integrate the lighting control infrastructure for the redeveloped Qantas International Lounge at Auckland Airport.
Delivered in two stages ahead of the peak Christmas travel period, the project represents a high-density lighting control deployment within a premium aviation hospitality environment. The expanded lounge accommodates more than 370 guests across dining, relaxation, wellness, and workspace zones.
The project was delivered in collaboration with Alaska Construction & Interiors (builders), NDY (services consultant), and Keece Electrical (electrical contractor).
Smarter Lighting Control Support, Without the Callout Fee
With fuel, transport, and labour costs continuing to climb, remote lighting control maintenance is a smarter way to protect system performance.
Our service plans, from $50 + GST per month depending on site size, allow us to
remotely monitor and report on every device across your DALI-2 network,
identify points of failure early, and
support preventative maintenance without unnecessary callouts.
Monthly site status reports, six-monthly firmware updates, and emergency reporting help keep your system performing as it should, while reducing downtime, travel costs, and disruption.
We love debunking common lighting control myths – one myth at a time!
Myth
RGBW needs to be controlled by DMX
Busted
While DMX drivers are excellent for events/shows, for more simple colour-changing requirement (e.g. static displays, pre-set scenes, etc.) DALI DT8 drivers provide RGBW and TW from the same DALI address via a zencontrol controller on your standard lighting system.
