Hi First Name, Welcome to the May edition of our Technology Bulletin where we continue our focus on the innovative world of lighting control — a field that’s illuminating the future of energy efficiency and smart building design.
Welcome to the May edition of our Technology Bulletin! As the days grow shorter and the sun shines less brightly, we continue our focus on the innovative world of lighting control — a field that’s illuminating the future of energy efficiency and smart building design.
This month, we’re excited to showcase the latest advancements in lighting technology that not only enhance the functionality and comfort of our living spaces but also contribute to a greener planet. Join us as we delve into the trends that are setting the stage for a brighter, more sustainable future.
Plus details of our upcoming events are at the bottom of this email, including a free Pink Ribbon Breakfast on Tuesday, 21 May.
Sincerely, The Intelligent Environments Team
DALI Alliance Unveil Certification for DALI+
As lighting specifications increasingly seek smarter, sustainable, and interoperable solutions, DALI+ emerges as a crucial enabler of standardised wireless or IP-based lighting systems.
The collaboration with Thread Group has resulted in the integration of enhanced security and encryption solutions, ensuring the integrity and confidentiality of data transmission within DALI+ networks. Key features of DALI+ with Thread
With IEC62386-104 over Thread zencontrol's DALI+ system provides full functioning, no compromise lighting control with full bandwidth. zencontrol were the first to have a DALI+ certified application controller on the market.
Despite being classified as a “Life Safety System” and often exempt from green legislation, emergency lighting can indeed be sustainable with the right approach. A well-designed and managed system can be both efficient and environmentally friendly.
For truly sustainable emergency lighting, the design of the system must incorporate the control system, the operating methodology, and the service life of the system. The choice of platform and security of supply is very important as the world attempts to move towards a more circular economy.
Dr Reza Shahamiri is a senior lecturer in Software Engineering at the University of Auckland, and shares his opinion in this article from newsroom.co.nz.
Dr Shahamiri discusses how artificial intelligence has rapidly become part of life, along with anxieties about how AI is changing things. He asserts that although some concerns warrant serious consideration, even the most cautious must see that AI also holds immense potential to improve lives, particularly in healthcare.
He points out that AI’s powerful image-processing capabilities are already assisting with early detection of serious diseases by accurately analysing medical images.
AI algorithms help radiologists spot malignant tumours, and in emergency rooms, some medical facilities use AI to spot embolisms and signs of stroke. Such early detection being crucial to minimise the risk of brain damage.
We're hosting a free Pink Ribbon Breakfast event in conjunction with Rosebank Business Association to help fund breast cancer education, patient support, research, and advocacy.
